Politics

Dear all,

Is the world becoming more secular or is the importance of religion increasing? Is there a true separation between church and state in any state? What is the impact of religion on public administration, education and integration?
To provide the opportunity to debate about these exciting topics PoliticsCo is organizing a very special theme night about religion and politics on the 28th of April. This night four renowned speakers will participate in a fierce debate with each other, but more importantly with you! The speakers are:

• Rabbi Lody van de Kamp, city councillor for the Christian Democratic Party (CDA)
• Roel Kuiper, member of the First Chamber (Eerste Kamer) for the Christian Union (Christen Unie)
• Fatima Elatik, city councillor for the labour party (PvdA)
• Frank Karsten, libertarian and chair of the organization “Meer Vrijheid” (More Freedom) and a fierce representative of the secularist thought.

This is gonna be a great one! Be there on the 28th of April at 20.00 in the Auditorium!

British Foreign Policy has always been very influential. It still seems that the UK is trying to play a decisive role in the EU without any objective of further integration into the community. Is Britain still superior to the other Member States?

Whatever you wanted to know about British Foreign Policy, listen to and ask the expert in the Netherlands himself! Mr. Parker has been the Ambassador to the UK in the Netherlands since 2005 and has worked for the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office since 1978. His postings abroad include Athens, New Delhi, and Brussels. Furthermore, he was British High Commissioner in Nicosia from 2001 to 2005. Come, listen, ask and share ideas about British Foreign Policy and the EU!

4th of March: Excursion to Brussels

The wheels of power of the European Union are subjected to much criticism these days. Euro-sceptics from all over the Continent lament the lack of effectiveness of EU policies and the distance between Brussels and individual Europeans. But what do you think about the European parliament? Come and judge for yourself*! After a tour and a lunch with Euro-parliamentarian, Ms. Ria Oomen-Ruijten, you will have all you need to know to form your opinion. With some good luck we might even get the chance to sneak a peak in some of the other institutions!
