Awareness Week
Update Awareness Week:
We are proud to announce that Annique Priesterbach will be giving an inspirational talk on “Combining the Impossible? Being a Top Rower and Top Student” on Thursday 18th of February at 20.00 in Dining Hall Lounge.
Annique competes in rowing at an international level, participating among others in the World Championships below 23 years. Meanwhile, she succeeded in combining her top-level rowing with top-level studying. Being a UCU graduate and a current SUMMA student, she combined what many would consider to be impossible. Thursday evening, she will give an inspirational talk at UCU about her rowing career and how she managed to combine her study with it. Talking about both the positive and negative aspects, she will provide us with insights into the life of a professional rower.
We hope to see you there!
After the short, cold winter days, your mum who kept overfeeding you when you came home for the break and a general feeling of laziness after a semester of hard work, it’s time to become (physically) active again. Why? For one thing, sport reduces stress, it makes you feel better about yourself, it’s a great way to meet people, it increases your metabolism and it’s fun! Also, it’s a good excuse not to study for a couple of hours, but increase your endorphin/happiness levels instead.
Therefore, AsklepianCo invites you to enjoy our activities during Awareness Week. In the third week of the semester, we’ll organise many activities related to sports, including an inspiring lecture by a professional sportsman, a sports movie night, a tour around the Galgenwaard stadium, a tennis ho’s and golf pro’s theme party, a swimming clinic, a running clinic and more.
We hope to see your aound during Awareness Week,

THE EXHIBITION
This year, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin as well as the 150th anniversary of his book The Origin of Species. Therefore, AskleplianCo, together with the British Council and Bas Defize, has organised this exhibition which will be on display in Dining Hall on the campus of University College Utrecht. The exhibition consists of a number of posters about Darwin’s life, his theories, and his relevance nowadays. Furthermore, there will be some interesting books for the visitor to read and the chance to leave your opinion behind in our guestbook.
The event will be opened by Bas Defize on September, 17 at 7.30pm in the Dining Hall lounge and will be followed by two lectures of Bert Theunissen, evolutionary historian, and Roy Erkens, evolutionary scientist. After this, there will be ample time for discussion in an informal setting and to visit the exhibition. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
After the opening, the exhibition will be open daily during dining hall hours.
